In 1739, Lord Baltimore, Royal Governor of the colonial province of Maryland, under the authority of King George, issued a royal grant which deeded 500 acres of land to Colonel Thomas Cresap. The deeded land known as Long Meadows was one of two prominent settlements in Washington County. Long Meadows and its owners were an integral part of history as the young colonists struggled to become a nation. The Longmeadow manse still stands today within what was the original fort, constructed by Thomas Cresap. The house stands in quiet dignity in remembrance for its historical contribution to American history.
The Longmeadow bedroom collection is constructed of select boards of solid Appalachian black cherry, finished to a fine antique patina and trimmed with solid brasses that have been sand-cast to give superb weight and feel.
